Christmas Snow!

We had heard that there was going to be a snow storm today. They were saying 6 to 10 inches. Nothing terrible, but a good snow for Northern Virginia for sure. Last night we headed out to do our weekly grocery shopping, and quickly realized that the rest of Winchester had also heard about the snow, decided to run for Walmart, (a few raided the egg and bread shelves at Costco) hence the lack of eggs, milk, bread and pretty much every other food item normally readily available in the store, (garlic and onions were almost gone!) After settling for some sad looking purple onions, kale rather than lettuce, (which was also gone), applesauce in favor of the empty banana boxes, and a few other odds and ends, we got in one of the terribly long lines to wait for our turn to pay for our things. While waiting, Peter and I both made dashes for other random items.

This morning I woke up and looked out the window. After a minute I asked Peter, "where's my car?" He started laughing and pointed out that it was right outside where it always is but that it was covered in snow. Sure enough, there it was just peeking out.

(It was much less visible from the 2nd story window, but I did feel like a ditz once Pete pointed it out to me.)

We ventured out later on to deliver some cookies to several different neighbors. We took the following shots. I'm guessing at least 2 feet of snow. I haven't seen a snow like this since I was a kid!

A kind neighbor helped Peter dig out his car. Pete ran into Winchester today to try and get some Christmas shopping done. Unfortunately pretty much everything except Walmart was closed. He did manage to get us a much-needed snow shovel!

Sammy's been fighting a fever for the last few days, so his response to the snow was pretty much like this. But, he did seem to enjoy looking at it from the window!

I'm guessing this snow might just grant us a White Christmas!

Big Boy Food!

My mom and dad have finally convinced me to eat big boy food. I have been pretty contented to just chew on stuff like this marker, and fill up on nurse. They've been trying to get me to like big boy food for about a month now, off and on, but it just wasn't doing it for me. And then, 2 days ago, something happened, and all of a sudden, I love the stuff.

oh, ha, that's me being cute. The picture doesn't really have anything to do with my story, but who could resist??

Here are my favorites so far. Apple sauce, (not pictured, but very yummy. It tends to lean on the tart side.) Rice cereal--good stuff; both kinds. I like the puffed stuff because it just disappears in my mouth. And, I don't have any teeth yet, so I can't really chew anything. Sweet potatoes--yum. I like how they turn my face orange. Bananas--divine. Need I say more? White grape juice/water bottle, ah, so good. For some reason I've had a hard time getting used to bottle nipples, but I am getting the hang of the now, and I love my juice bottle!

Eating.

Wearing.

Loving.

Ah, the life.

In other news, I do appear to be sprouting a tooth. Mom says she can feel it and see it a bit. I was wondering what what up with my mouth.

Other than that, I'm growing, scooting on my tummy, (crawling is a bit beyond me just yet) and enjoying getting outside for walks with mom when the weather is nice.

Up up, up, Old Rag Mountain.

Getting ready to go on Saturday morning!

Uncle John on the way up showing us the stick bug he found.

The best way to manage the 7.5 mile hike up and down a mountain...

On daddy's back.

Chillin' at the top with mom.

Checking out the view.

Laughs with Grandpa at the top!

Grandma, Aunt Laura, and Uncle John checking out the view.

So beautiful and big!

Fun hat for the cooler walk down. Don't I look cute?!

It was a fun hike. We were all tired by the time we got back down the other side of the mountain, but that's something I'd like to do again. Daddy said his shoulders hurt when we made it back down, but he liked taking me up there, I could tell. I hardly fussed at all! I love outside! Oh, and mom said to say this, "Aunt Joanna, we missed you!"

Visit with the Family!:-)

Part of the Cole Clan came to visit last week. Despite the rainy, yucky weather, we had a fun time. Here are some fun pictures from their visit. My son is, once again demading to be held, so, I shall have to leave it at that.

Oh...the last photo is one that I took of Sammy, and I love how it came out with some basic edits.

More pics and a quick update!

Hey all. Sorry that I haven't typed at you much recently. My cute little son is not one who prefers to nap, and when he's awake he wants to be entertained. He's starting to play some on his own, and today he's napping, so I can type at you a bit!

Here are some pics that we took recently. He's getting so big!

These are of him chilling in his jump up. He only likes to play in it if I sing to him and talk to him while he's in it. So, it can make for interesting work results. Imagine me typing an e-mail to someone for HSLDA and randomly typing, "Puppies are cuddly, puppies are cute, they're never nasty or mean". haha, good thing I go back and check! Speaking of work; I am working part time from home for HSLDA/HSF which has been a huge blessing. Sammy's made it very interesting to get my work done at times, but God has been good, and it does get done most every day!

Here his is just being his cute self. He's changed so much in 5 months. The time does go by so quickly.

Hopefully, I'll be able to type a more lengthy update soon.
